"You're oh-so eager, but don't the first thing about romantic letters?"
I think we can help! Check out our romantic love letter ideas below:Writing romantic words in a romantic love letter to your sweetheart isn't all that different from writing a romantic love poem. The difference is that an effective love letter expresses in writing the depth of emotions and passion you feel for your beloved.
Whereas in a romantic love poem, you "wax poetic", usually in a short and sweet fashion; in a romantic letter you can take plenty of time and paper real estate to flesh out your loving thoughts.
A romantic love letter can expound abundantly about the qualities, virtues and attractions of your loved one and describe in breathless detail your own longings, passions and heartfelt sentiments about them. It can paint a picture in their mind and give them the chills and thrills of passion and longing. It is an exceedingly romantic thing to do.
A love letter received will often be cherished forever.
BASIC RULES FOR ANY ROMANTIC WRITING:
*It is important that you speak straight from your heart. Think of how an enthusiastic child bubbles over with excitement when telling about something that means a lot to them.
*Have a thesaurus handy! Whether it be an online one or something like my old college "Roget's Thesaurus"; it will prove indispensable for coming up with new and creative ways to express your feelings.
*Relax and get comfortable. Romantic writings are not something to dash through. They require gentle thought and relaxed concentration. Have a writing tool and paper or pad handy to jot down your ideas. Take a few deep breaths and find your calm center.
*In the abstract realm of emotions and passion, we are looking for simple and straightforward words here. The descriptions and concepts should be written (initially) in the simplest of terms. We can gussy them up later.
1. PHYSICAL: Let your imagination run away with you as you contemplate your beloved. Picture their physical being and caress them in your mind from head to toe. Notice every delicious detail.
Run your hand through their hair and gaze into their eyes. Touch their cheek and trace the shapes of their brows and the line of their lips with your fingertips. In the same fashion, explore the rest of their body in your mind, savoring each precious physical detail.
Now write down brief notes and descriptive phrases and other thoughts that jump to mind about your physical love. Make it brief, and move on.
2. MENTAL: Think about conversations you've enjoyed with your beloved. Remember things they've said that were meaningful to you. Reflect on positive things you have heard others say about them.
Reminisce about joyful times you've shared in the past; from hilarious misadventures to sweetly touching moments to passionate encounters to clever and jaunty banter exchanged between best friends.
Now jot down words that come to mind about some of the intellectual qualities that you adore about your beloved. As before, don't linger at this stage; short and sweet, then move on.
3. EMOTIONAL: Now, begin to think thoughts about the feelings you experience associated with your love. Using memories as inspiration, recall the sights, flavors and textures of the delicious moments you've shared. Remember smells, colors and temperatures.
Reflect on the sounds in your ears and the sensations on your skin. Allow the memories of your senses to illuminate your emotions. Describe your feelings.
Just write down descriptive words as they occur to you. Don't worry about them not being perfectly accurate. That is where the thesaurus will come in later.
4.PUTTING IT TOGETHER: Tell a tale. Create a story in your imagination about you and your beloved. Using your notes (and the thesaurus!) you will begin to pull your love letter together as if you are telling your beloved a story.
Include lavish descriptions and sensory specifics. Spare no details about the scenery, the clothing (or lack thereof), the location, sight, sounds, smells. Pretend you are describing to them a scene from a movie that they cannot see or hear.
It can be as simple as romanticizing a version of a scene that you've observed or read about; customized to fit you and your love. It can be a secret fantasy of yours revealed to your sweetheart in this succulent way. Or it can be your own unique tale of passion--or just a scene from it--more to follow!
Have fun with this. Your love will shine through!
